Writers who care about memory will want Advanced or Pro. If you want one companion rather than stories, Candy AI is cheaper and simpler. DreamGen has no affiliate deal with us.

The context window is how much of your story the AI can “see” at once. A token is roughly three-quarters of a word, so Starter's 5,000 tokens holds under 4,000 words of scenario and story, and older parts drop out as the story grows. That's why long campaigns feel forgetful on cheaper plans, and why Advanced is the realistic floor for serious role-play.
